i wonder what metrics could be used by a utility app to disable touch ID in a situation like this, like how iPhones disable face ID if the face scanned looks very different

The FBI was able to access Washington Post reporter Hannah Natanson's Signal messages because she used Signal on her work laptop. The laptop accepted Touch ID for authentication, meaning the agents were allowed to require her to unlock it. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
maybe someone could write a touch id duress utility (like https://github.com/jcs/login_duress). if you scan your middle finger instead of your usual index finger, it runs an action like powering the machine off or requiring a password
