I'm thinking about doing this on my X301 as well - does the 2nd battery add a noticeable amount of weight to the machine? I am assuming it weighs more than the DVD drive...

the 3-cell bay battery weighs 0.4 pounds, the dvd drive weighs 0.2 pounds according to what i've found.

do you get good battery life from your new setup? I've got the 6-cell currently.
