saving private lion

this is what the bandwidth looks like while trying to use the new internet recovery feature in os x lion on the new macbook air, which didn't work very well for me. each boot (with cmd+opt+r) requires downloading the base image, then a ~3.7gb installation image. after downloading, it would reboot back to recovery and just say "installation of mac os failed".

eventually i had to dissect the images manually in terminal, copy certain files to a usb drive in particular locations, and restore it myself.
