the bad thing about doing something right the first time is that nobody appreciates how difficult it was

another one down. time is still going slowly, and i suppose that's a good thing. while i was 24, i:

• did my 9th track event, an advanced driver day at autobahn.
• did my 10th track event and first at road america.
• sold my 318i because i never drove it.
• did my 11th track event, a somewhat boring day at gingerman.
• flew to new york city for a few hours for a business meeting, then flew back.
• saw luke vibert at sonotheque.
• flew to venice, italy with dave for a few days for opencon 2006. felt awkward in italy the whole time.
• brought my r32 to the dealer for service for the first time in 2 years of owning it.
• decided to change my name to all lowercase.
• finally committed my pckbd changes to openbsd to make the keyboard work on the oqo 01. learned more about the 8042 than i ever wanted to know.
• moved all of my photos to flickr.
• saw do make say think in chicago.
• started a forum as a testbed to develop some new forum software. forum continues with mixed success.
• saw amiina in chicago.
• installed camber plates on the r32 as a last-ditch effort to fix the tire rubbing and poor performance of the r32 at the track.
• did my 12th, 13th, and 14th track events, the 3-tracks-in-3-days at autobahn.
• had hardwood floors installed downstairs.
• called it quits with the r32 as a track car and pulled the rollbar out of the r32. again.
• purchased a lotus exige. have been happy ever since.
• did my 15th track event and first with the exige, at grattan, my most favorite track.
• saw amon tobin at the metro.
• did my 16th track event and first with the lotus club, at blackhawk.
• went to calgary, canada for a week for the openbsd hackathon.
• bought an oqo model 02. made some things work on openbsd, but gave up when hitting some complex interrupt routing issues. it's now on ebay.
• did my 17th track event, another advanced driver day at autobahn.
• drove to lake geneva with the lotus club.
• got rid of all of my tvs.
• bought a head and neck restraint system so i (hopefully) don't die if i crash on the track.
• rewrote my site in ruby.
• did my 18th track event, a day at grattan with some random club.
• did an audi club instructor seminar and was told that despite my great driving and picking up on nearly every mistake the senior instructors did while role playing as novice, intermediate, and advanced students, i have trouble communicating and would probably not make a good instructor.
• did my 19th track event, 5th at blackhawk. blew up the pressure plate that sunday and had trouble shifting into gears from a stop. brought the car to the dealer where it is currently being fixed. i am sad.

though perhaps the best thing, i have made it past one year of being self-employed without losing my house, car(s) or dog.
