for most of the years that i lived at my old townhouse, i had only a single recliner chair (thanks mom) in my living room. i didn't need more than a single chair because i never had people over and i didn't really sit downstairs much anyway.

it took me nine months to finally put blinds on those windows.

eventually i acquired an old couch from somewhere for free, i don't remember where, and when i moved to my new house, i only took the recliner.

later, when sma moved in with me, he brought his couch and chair from his old house. he needed somewhere to sit, after all.

then he moved out a year later and took his couches with him and i was back to a single recliner chair.

a week or two ago i was sitting in the said recliner chair staring at the floor while waiting for carl to come back inside and thought that i should probably get some more furniture so people can come over and not sit on the floor. because i hate furniture stores, i figured i'd just buy something on the internet. so i did. and a few days later, it arrived.

it is pretty big and comfortable. the material is a suede-like material that changes colors when you rub it against the grain. i like to draw things in them with my finger.

the living room is pretty cramped now, though, with the big tv and the recliner chair still there.

so the recliner chair is out on the curb (sorry mom) for garbage day tomorrow and the big tv is going to have to be replaced with one of those new-fangled plasma tv dealies that hangs on the wall. not that i watch tv that much or care about high-definition, but i'm getting claustrophobic with all this stuff in my living room and need some space.

i will be mounting the tv against this wall, since it is in front of the steps going to the basement. that way i can mount the dvd player and other crap (mac mini with frontrow?) on the inside wall and just feed the cables through the wall to the tv and have nothing showing on the outside but the screen. then if i need to put in a dvd or something, i just open the door to the basement and it will be right there.

why don't they make flat-screen tv's with slot-loading dvd players? my imac has one, why can't a tv?
