i got 3 directv receivers when i had it installed because sma was still here, but now that i'm by myself again, i don't need 3 receivers (it is $5/month extra per receiver). so i rewired stuff to put one receiver in the basement and it feeds all of the other tv's (there is one in the garage, one in the living room, one in my bedroom, one in my office, and one in the spare bedroom). the only problem was changing channels, so i got a remote control extender that allows me to send the signal from my bedroom down to the box in the basement and work just like the receiver was up in my room.

so now all of my tv's watch the same channel, which i've found is even better than before because i can be watching a show in the office, go out to the garage to play with the car, or go to the spare bedroom to work out (heh) and just turn on the tv and it is already on the same channel as what i was watching in the other room. no need to find the remote for it and find what channel i was on.

also, it is nice having one receiver because i have a profile setup on it that deletes all of the pay per view and spanish channels and other crap from the menus so i don't have so paginate through hundreds of channels that i don't even get when trying to find something to watch.
