some random thread on way0t reminded me that i hated comcast and having just paid my bill yesterday, was tired of paying $100 a month just for digital cable with 2 movie stations and no speed channel (they switched all the programming around a long time ago and one day i had no speed channel).
so i called to cancel and had to go through the usual act of convincing the lady on the other end that i do in fact want to cancel. she offered a $10/month discount just as they did before, but after 6 months it goes away anyway, so i'd be right back up to $100/month. she offered to give me free speed channel, but again, only for 6 months and then after that i have to pay $5/month for it.
i finally got her to cancel my service, then signed up for directv on their website. $41/month with free installation, 4 receivers, local channels, and speed channel, being installed on friday.
