i want to buy a camcorder to mount in the car to take videos at the track. it would be neat to get a realcam and mount it somewhere in the lower front bumper. to use that, i need a camcorder that supports video input.
i went to circuit city the other day with dace and we asked the shithead working there which of the dozen camcorders they had would take a video input signal. he went and asked someone else and then came back and told me "pretty much all of them. we can't memorize the entire product line though, you'll have to look at each one and see." so we just walked out.
i looked at some camcorder websites for information on which one to buy, but the websites are no better than the idiot at circuit city. they list a thousand camcorders and every review of them just says "this camera is decent but it's not as cool as this one that costs $2000 and it's better than the one that costs $100." and why does every manufacturer have to make two dozen models of camcorders that are only slightly different than their other models?
i need a minidv camcorder that:
- will not fall apart with all of the vibration being mounted inside the car most of its life,
- is relatively small and lightweight so it stays put on the camera mount on the harness bar,
- takes decent video in low light (assuming the light inside my car without tinted windows on a cloudy day is not considered "low light"), and
- can take a video input rca signal and if possible, an audio signal too
that's all i need. not 200x digital zoom, 4 megapixel still picture taking, sd/mmc/memorystick support, a 10" lcd screen, integrated tax return preparation, or any other crap. i guess i will have to keep doing more boring research.
