awoke at 8am yesterday to wash the car in 35 degree weather. then headed out to hooters in schaumburg at noon for a volkswagen meet. a good turnout, maybe 30 cars.
then the mullet massive invaded as a bunch of mustang owners were holding a meet in the next parking lot. they of course had to do burn outs past us so we'd be so impressed with their domestic v8 straight-line power. after hanging around in the parking lot and waiting for other people to show up, we headed out for a cruise downtown.
but the "cruise" was more like the people in front tried to get there as soon as possible and everyone else tried to keep up with them so we wouldn't get lost.
it was actually warm enough to drive with the window down, i forgot how loud my car is outside of it since i've had to drive around all winter with the windows up. lower wacker drive was fun listening to half a dozen r32's flying through the tunnel.
the roads in chicago really suck, by the way.
for those that didn't get lost, we eventually met up at some park by the lake. after mulling around there, we took off again and drove on some windy roads through the residential areas of downtown. it was amusing to see people waiting at 2-way stops or their driveways trying to turn and having to wait for our 25-car train to drive past.
after some more people got separated from the group, we all met up again at some pier/loading dock place right on the lake.
unfortunately, while backing up to move by the edge of the pier, i was paying more attention not to hit the car next to me than what was going on behind me, and i bumped into the rail. now i have two scratches on the rear bumper. for shame. i tried buffing it out yesterday but it's pretty deep. i'll need to get some touch up paint or get the thing repainted.
before we left, someone organized a shot of 4 r32s; one deep blue pearl, one tornado red, one reflex silver and my black magic perl, which each represent the 4 colors the r32 was sold in here in the states. kind of neat, i suppose.
