i am joshua stein, 28 years old, currently living in chicago, illinois with my dog carl. this is my personal website that i have been updating since 1999.

i write software and provide various technology-related services under the guise of superblock, llc.

i am a developer (jcs@) of the openbsd project, a free unix-like operating system, and have been since august 2001. i have authored various things such as tftp-proxy for pf, an i386/amd64 nvram driver, an acpi driver for thinkpads, and more than a few ports. i have fixed (and probably caused) a few bugs in other kernel and userland things as well. i operated the rt.fm second-level openbsd ftp, web, anoncvs, and cvsup mirror between 2000 and 2009.

i have built a few websites that you may be interested in:

• a registry for volkswagen r32 owners to register their cars.
• a site that answers the question, is it going to rain? as succinctly as possible.
• a site for metra train riders in the chicagoland area that provides metra train schedules for the iphone and android that also shows train delays and other alerts scraped from the metra website.
